I flew down to GDC this year for the first time as a photographer rather as a game developer. That didn't stop me from meeting several old co-workers and friends.
Maybe it was because I am no longer in the industry but the show itself actually bored me to death. That part of the bay area was very underwhelming. It was very dirty and filled with loony homeless people.
I didn't get a chance to explore the city beyond some back alleys because the one free day that I had was the day during the whole week that SF decided to rain.

The Portland Japanese Gardens had a free weekend, which thankfully coincided with decent weather. This was my first trip to these gardens since moving to Portland.
